Using Good Messaging with Your CAC and Reader
If your IT administrator has not installed Good Messaging for you, you can install it over the air. Before you begin, make sure your handheld and the CAC reader are charged completely. If not, the installation process may not complete successfully. You also need your CAC PIN.
To install Good Messaging:
- Follow the instructions found in Installing Good Messaging for the First Time.
- When your handheld has been enabled for secure email, you will see the following screen during installation.

- Enter your CAC PIN. Your handheld connects to the reader. It also goes through the linking and pairing process and connects to Bluetooth. If you have problems during this process, make sure Bluetooth has been enabled on the handheld.
- Once you have successfully completed the setup process, you can use Good Messaging with your CAC and send and receive secure email.
- If your CAC or PIN change, you need to run the CAC Setup process again. From Good Preferences, select Security.
- Select CAC Setup.
- If your CAC reader has changed, select the check box.
- Make sure the CAC is inserted into the reader, the reader is on, and all of it is connected to your handheld.
- Follow the prompts to install Good Messaging.
