The start and end dates for daylight saving time in the Australia and New Zealand time zone are changing in 2007/2008 as follows:

Current Time Zones in Australia:
There are three time zones in Australia:

GMM DST and time Zone updates and enhancements.
The latest Australia and New Zealand Daylight Saving Time enhancements and updates have been added to GMM to reflect newer DST rules as passed by the respective countries.

The following Australia and New Zealand time-zone support has been added for the latest DST update:

Update Good Mobile Messaging Server and Client to 5.0.4 or above.


DST upgrade for GMM with MS Exchange Server:
Installing the latest Windows OS changes that relate to Daylight Saving Time on GMM host, make sure the patches have been applied on both GMM and Exchange host

  1. Apply the OS patch of latest time-zone changes found at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/942763. This patch addresses specific country time-zone changes; we recommend its installation regardless of which countries you are currently operating in.
  2. Update the CDO patch appropriate for the Exchange server. For Exchange 2003: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943068. For Exchange 2007: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=E17E7F31-079A-43A9-BFF2-0A110307611E&displaylang=en.
  3. Update the GMM Server to 5.0.4.
  4. Update the GMM client to 5.0.4
  5. Run the Microsoft Outlook Time Zone Data Update Tool, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=E17E7F31-079A-43A9-BFF2-0A110307611E&displaylang=en

FAQ: What's the impact of the DST changes on Good Mobile Messaging users who reside in the affected time zones?
Appointments created from the handheld or created from the desktop and synchronized with the handheld will appear one hour off. For recurring appointments created from the handheld, appointments might appear one hour off or not synchronize at all.

Customer should follow the above steps to update their Good server/Clients, Windows Server and Exchange/Domino server with latest DST patches/updates.

Note: Please note that these issues will occur even if users apply the Windows Mobile or Palm OS DST patches to their handhelds.

FAQ: Do I need to apply DST patches from my device manufacturers?
Device Manufacturer DST Patches are not needed for Good Mobile Messaging but is recommended for other applications on the device. Users should ensure that the device clock matches the current time during the extended DST period.
