Title: Treo 650 2MB Install Limit Download Failure Error in GMC – 0x80000014

Symptom: In GMC user’s download status of Good client upgrade shows as in progress and Status Details show the following download failure.

Cause: The “Treo650 2MB install limit” error is because the 4.0 client uses Exchange Manager, a PalmOS component to create the GLPackage PRC file once the bits are downloaded to the device. Exchange Manager has a 2.0 MB limit on the size of the PRC it can create.

Remedy: GMM 4.5 is ~1.8MB so you can upgrade from 4.0 to 4.5, then upgrade from 4.5 to 4.9.x. With version 4.5 Good is no longer using Exchange Manager, but directly calling an OS API so this 2.0MB limit does not apply. You could also download the new OTA setup and provision directly to 4.9.x and higher.

Note: Freeing up memory on the device will not help, the path to upgrade is 4.0 -> 4.5 -> (possibly need an SD card) -> 4.9.

Additional Info: This issue has only been seen on Treo 650 handhelds.
