Title: How to run CreateProfile from GoodTools

Fact:

GoodTools is an easy way of running the some of the Command Line tools out lined in Chapter 8 of the Goodlink Administrators Guide. Here, we will discuss the CreateProfile tab in GoodTools: If you want to see how to use any of the other utilities with GoodTools, on this top picture, click the tab that you wish to see information about.

*Note: We usually launch GoodTools.exe from the default path of "C:\Program Files\Good Technology\GoodLink Server\util" (it might not be a bad idea to have the Admin create a shortcut on the GLS' desktop for this).

Create profile will run 9 tests which test MAPI and CDO connectivity to the user's mailbox through the GoodAdmin profile. In the above case we are using the GoodLink Server profile. This tools can be user to troubleshoot MAPI and CDO problems which could be pasuing one user, provisioning problems where either the user cannot be added, or where proviisoning hangs. When we open the tool the Profile field is already filled in with GoodLink Server, so we put in the Mailbox alias for the user:

This alias is usually the first part of the user's email address. In the test case the address is juggernaught@themutants.com, so we would use juggernaught (in certian cases the alias is different than the SMTP address. Confirm with the admin that this is the case so the results are correct. To run the test click Test:

The results are posted in a popup window. You can send these result up to csteam so you can read them or forward them to another tech or Escalations by clicking Send.

Additional Information: Pre 4.5 versions of this tool in GoodTools did not return accurate results. If the admin is running a pre 4.5 version of GoodTools, have them upgrade to 4.5. The only other alternative is to run the commandline version if the admin cannot upgrade.
