This section introduces you to the Good News application included on your handheld. Good News provides an RSS reader on the handheld that you use to view news and articles. Good News is not integrated with Outlook 2007 RSS folders.
Many news web sites, as well as many others, provide updates or "feeds" and these feed indicate when new information is available. You can subscribe to a variety of feeds and Good News will periodicals check for those updates and display them on your handheld.
Starting Good News
You can access Good News through the Home screen or from the Good Launcher. Once you have subscribed to a feed, News polls for updates once per hour by default. However, you can change this interval to be less frequent in order to preserve your handheld's battery life and prevent excess data charges.

Managing Feeds
The News screen allows you add, edit, and delete feeds. You can also update feeds and manage the News Options from this screen.
Good News includes several default subscriptions.
Important: If you are not on an unlimited data plan, you may consider disabling Good Mobile News or setting the download intervals to be less frequent. An average number of RSS feeds, updated hourly, results in several MBs of data transferred over the network daily. This may result in high data costs from your network carrier. You can also conserve your handheld's battery life by setting less frequent intervals or choosing to download manually.To manage download intervals for news feeds:
- Start Good News.
- Select News Options from the menu.
- At Update News, choose Manually to download feeds at at your convenience. Or ,select the interval you want:
- Every hour
- Every 2 hours
- Every 3 hours
- Select Done to save your changes.
Adding Feeds
You can add a feed by using the list of feeds provided by Good News or you can add a feed by specifying a URL.
To add a default Good News subscription:
- Start Good News.
- Select Add Feeds from the menu.
- Select a feed from the list provided.
- Select Done to save your changes. Good News will start polling for new articles immediately.
To add a new feed by URL:
- Start Good News.
- Select Add a Feed by URL from the menu.
- Enter the URL for the site that includes the news feed to which you want to subscribe.
- Select Add to save your changes.
Editing a Feed
To edit a feed:
- Start Good News.
- Select the feed you want to edit. (Do not open the feed)
- Select Edit Feed from the menu.
- From the Edit Feed screen, you can change the URL, name, or choose whether or not you want to include new articles from this location in the notification bar.
- Select Save.
Deleting Feeds
To delete a Good News feed:
- Start Good News.
- Select the feed you want to delete.
- Select Delete Feed from the menu to remove the articles from your handheld.
Reading Feeds
Good News is available through the Good Launcher, Home or Today screens. If the Good News icon does not appear on the Launcher bar, you can access it by using the Good Launcher.
To open and read an article:
- Select the article from the alert bar or press . (period key) to read the contents.
- Choose Read in News or Read in Browser. If you open the article in Good News, you must select the headline link to read the entire article. If you choose Read in Browser, you can read the article in its entirety from the source's web site.
Forwarding an Article or URL
You can email an article from Good News, or send the URL for the feed directly to friends and associates.
To send a news article:
- Open the article.
- Select Email Article from the Menu.
A compose window opens where you can enter one or more email addresses. You can use the default message provided or enter one of your own.
To forward the URL for a feed directly:
- In the News window, select the feed youwant.
- Select Email Feed from the Menu.
